Talk to an expert

Start the new year off on the right foot with a relaxing holiday to Fiji, when you get a new home loan with Kiwibank.

Your trip to Fiji

Along with a great rate, you'll get a five-night holiday for two to Fiji when you drawdown a new home loan of at least $250,000, with a minimum equity of 20%. Apply between 20 January and 29 February 2020, and drawdown by 24 April 2020 to be eligible. Your trip will include:

Travel concerns related to Coronavirus

If you have any concerns regarding travelling at this time due to the potential impact caused by COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we can swap your trip for a $2,400 cash contribution. Please contact your lender prior to booking to discuss your options.

Due to travel restrictions caused by COVID-19, we've removed the remaining March 2020 travel dates from this promotion. This is in an effort to do our part in minimising non-urgent travel to the Pacific, aligning with the New Zealand Government’s advice. If you have any concerns around this, please contact your lender prior to booking to discuss your options.

Please ensure you check your travel insurance policy carefully as it's our understanding that some travel insurance policies may not cover claims linked to COVID-19.

How it works

Upgrade your trip

Want to upgrade the flights on your Air New Zealand trip to ‘The Works’, or get an extra night’s accommodation? You can choose between either:

To be eligible just apply for Life & Living Insurance. It’s designed to help protect your lifestyle should the unexpected happen, so you can continue to pay your home loan. Our team can help you decide on what cover you might need. Or, get a new Air New Zealand Airpoints™ credit card so you can earn rewards as you spend. Plus, we’ll waive the account fees for the first year, meaning you’ll have more to spend once you get there.

If you choose to take out both products you can either get the flight upgrade + the extra night’s accommodation, or two extra night's accommodation. T&Cs apply.

Fiji trip important details

Who is making my booking?

Air New Zealand have selected travel agents, Holland, Clarke and Beatson to carry out the booking on their behalf.

Once you have completed the booking form, the details will be sent directly to Holland, Clarke and Beatson. You will be contacted within 48 hours by one of their travel agents who will help you complete your booking.

How do I book my trip?

You’ll receive an email a few days after the settlement of your home loan (this will be sent to the email address provided at the time of application). This email will contain a link to a booking form (under the “Booking your trip” section) for you to fill in your travel preferences.

Once this form has been completed, a travel agent from Holland, Clarke and Beatson will contact you to confirm your travel booking within 48 hours . We strongly recommend that you book early to get your preferred travel dates.

If you don’t receive your email or accidentally lose it, give us a call on 0800 000 654.

What dates can I travel?

The permitted travel periods are between 30 April – 26 June 2020 and between 15 October – 30 November 2020.

Travel is not permitted between Auckland and Nadi from 27 – 30 May 2020.

Bookings must be completed by 12pm 8 May 2020 or the offer will be forfeited. We recommend booking early to secure your preferred travel dates.

Can I bring my children?

Sure thing – Pullman Nadi Bay Resort & Spa is a great resort for both couples and families (with babysitting services and children’s clubs on offer so you can enjoy a few hours to yourself). However, this is an additional cost which you’ll need to pay for.

On the booking form, let us know if you intend to bring additional travellers. This needs to be paid for at the time of booking (subject to flight and accommodation availability).

The maximum additional adults or children at our special price is two (you can take more, but this may be at a higher cost and will be subject to availability). Additional room(s) will also need to be booked as rooms have limited maximum occupancy (three for the King room and four for the Double room).

What costs aren't covered?

You’ll need a current passport and travel money for food (other than the free daily breakfast provided) and any other holiday expenses.

Which Air New Zealand serviced domestic airports can fly me to Auckland?

Flights to Fiji are via Auckland only. Kiwibank will cover the cost of the domestic fares per person (Seat + Bag) from selected Air New Zealand serviced domestic ports via Auckland.

Airports included are: Kerikeri, Whangarei, Tauranga, Rotorua, Taupo, Gisborne, New Plymouth, Napier, Palmerston North, Wellington, Nelson, Blenheim, Hokitika, Christchurch, Timaru, Queenstown, Dunedin and Invercargill.

This is based on you transiting through Auckland and not breaking the journey with an overnight stay either side of your international travel.

Does Kiwibank cover the costs of getting to the airport in New Zealand?

No, this is at your own expense. As is the cost to break your journey on the way (for example, if you need to stay the night in Auckland before or after your Fiji flight).

Can I upgrade the room?

Yes, this can be arranged with Holland, Clarke and Beatson and must be paid for by you at the time of booking (subject to availability). To see what rooms are available visit Pullman Nadi Bay Resort & Spa.

Can I go by myself?

Yes, you can travel on your own.

Can I stay somewhere else?

No sorry, this package is only available for accommodation at the Pullman Nadi Bay Resort & Spa. However, you could add on to your trip – which would be at your own expense. Please liaise with the travel agent about this at the time of booking.

I don’t want to or can’t go – can I gift my holiday to someone else and how do I do it?

Yes you can gift the holiday package to someone else, and what better way to give back to friends/family that helped you on your home ownership journey!

You’ll need to give your home loan reference details to the person you are gifting. We recommend emailing us at to ensure the gifting process goes smoothly with the travel agent.

Can I change my booking?

Once your booking is ticketed by Holland, Clarke and Beatson it is non-transferable (i.e. you cannot give your holiday to someone else) and non-refundable (i.e. if you need to cancel your trip you won’t receive a refund) – you are only able to change the dates of your trip for a fee.

However, we understand that things can pop up, if so, it would be best to contact Holland, Clarke and Beatson directly and discuss what options might be available to help you out. Date or flight changes are permitted for $100 per person, per ticket, subject to the same booking class being available. A service fee of $125 will also apply. Please note if payment is by credit card, a 2% surcharge may apply.

We strongly recommend organising travel insurance to cover you in case the unexpected happens.

Do I need to arrange my own travel insurance?

Yes, travel insurance is a necessity when you travel overseas as it covers you against any travel risks such as lost or stolen luggage, any unexpected medical costs or if you miss your flights! Please ensure you arrange travel insurance before you go.

Please ensure you check your travel insurance policy carefully as it's our understanding that some travel insurance policies may not cover claims linked to COVID-19. If you have any concerns regarding travelling at this time due to the potential impact caused by COVID-19, please contact your lender prior to booking to discuss your options.

If you have a Kiwibank Platinum Visa or a Kiwibank Air New Zealand Airpoints™ Platinum Credit Card, our credit card insurance could cover you and any immediate family travelling with you for claims not linked to COVID-19. If you have any further questions please call Tower Insurance, who look after our credit card travel insurance. They can be contacted on 0800 800 477.

Important terms, conditions and exclusions are set out in the Travel Insurance for Kiwibank Credit Cards Policy wording (PDF 204.2 KB).

What’s the currency used in Fiji, and where can I get it?

The Fijian Dollar is used throughout Fiji. Whilst Kiwibank no longer sell or purchase foreign cash through our branches or online, there are many currency exchange suppliers that you can organise your foreign cash through.

You can also use your Credit or Debit card at the resort and in most Fijian restaurants and shops.

What about passports and visas?

You’ll need to make sure you have a valid passport and all other documentation required to satisfy the entry requirements of Fiji. If your passport is due to expire within 6 months of travel, you’ll need to get a new one sorted before you travel.

Depending on your passport nationality, additional requirements may include a minimum period of passport validity, visas, the need for a return ticket, a returning resident visa, and enough funds for your stay. You can find out more about Fiji’s entry requirements here.

If you’re on a New Zealand passport, you’re all good to go!

I'm a Kiwibank Business Banking customer. Can I get this offer?

Depends, have a chat with your Kiwibank lender. This offer relates to new home loan lending. It’s not available for business investment purposes.

What about existing Kiwibank Home Loan customers? Can they get the trip?

Kiwibank likes to look after our existing customers too. We’re giving away one of the Fiji holiday packages to three lucky Home Loan customers. If you have an existing Kiwibank Home Loan on 20 January, you should have received an email inviting you to enter the draw.

Didn’t receive the email? No worries, you can enter the prize draw here.

You have until the 29th February to enter the draw and the winner will be drawn on the 12 March 2020. The winner will be contacted by phone or email so make sure you have your details up to date in Internet Banking.

If you’ve been thinking about doing some renovations or need to top-up your loan by $250,000 or more, get in touch as you may also be eligible.
