What a Mastercard Gold offers

How it works

  • When you make purchases on your Mastercard Gold card you’ll get charged , interest rates are subject to change.
  • To qualify for 55 days interest free, you need to pay off your entire balance by the due date each month. The interest free period doesn’t apply to cash advances.
  • To activate your travel insurance you'll need to pay for your travel and/or accommodation with your card before leaving New Zealand. Other conditions apply.
  • You'll need to make minimum monthly payments of 5% of your monthly statement balance or $10 - whichever is greater - to ensure you don't get charged a late payment fee.
  • You can use Mastercard Contactless to make purchases of up to $80 without swiping, inserting or entering a PIN.

Balance transfers

Save money and pay off your credit card faster by paying for the first six months on any balance transferred from a non-Kiwibank credit card.

How our balance transfer works

  • You can transfer debt from a non-Kiwibank credit card to a Kiwibank credit card.
  • Balance transfer interest rates apply from the date the transfer is processed.
  • After six months, our standard interest rate of p.a. will apply to any remaining balance.
  • Our standard interest rates will also apply to any new purchases or cash advances you make during the initial six months.
  • The minimum amount you can transfer from a non-Kiwibank credit card is $200.
  • The amount you’re transferring can’t exceed the credit limit you’re applying for.
  • If you’ve made previous balance transfers, payments will go towards the balance transfer with the lowest interest rate first.
