Travel insurance with your credit card

If you have our Platinum credit card, you may be eligible for overseas travel insurance along with domestic travel insurance benefits. This is peace of mind, for adventures near or far.

Cover is provided by Tower Limited and managed by AWP Services New Zealand Limited trading as Allianz Partners.

Middle Eastern travel & insurance cover

Due to ongoing tensions across the Middle East, SafeTravel continues to update its travel advisories. The situation remains unpredictable and may result in travel disruptions, airspace closures, or flight cancellations at short notice.

These advisory changes do not affect the cover provided under your travel insurance policy.

War and war-like activities remain a general exclusion. This means there is no cover for claims directly or indirectly related to war, conflict, or similar events, even if travel is permitted.

Pre-travel checklist

  • Activate cover before travelling

    To activate your cover, simply use your credit card to pre-pay for eligible travel costs within 12 months of your trip. You'll need to pre-pay at least $500 of travel costs for overseas travel, or $250 for domestic travel.

  • Know which policy covers you

    Check that you know which policy applies to your trip. If you activated your cover before 1 July 2025, the previous Credit Card Travel Insurance Policy Wording will apply — even if you travel after that date.

  • Check your cover — including pre‑existing medical conditions

    Pre‑existing medical conditions aren’t automatically covered, but you may be able to arrange cover for an extra premium.

    To check whether your trip is covered and whether any pre‑existing medical conditions can be added to your policy, you can use the Allianz eligibility tool at checkyourcover.co.nz or call them on 0800 876 541 to find out more.
