Changes to the international transaction fee
When you use your debit or credit card for international transactions, a 1.85% international transaction fee applies to cover higher processing costs.
You'll pay this fee when you're overseas and also when shopping online and in New Zealand if the merchant processes transactions overseas.
It’s not always clear when the fee will apply. Even if a website ends in '.co.nz' and charges in NZD, the transaction may still be processed overseas. If unsure, check with the merchant.
