Environmental, social & governance

Our environmental, social and governance (ESG) approach helps us build long-term resilience, manage our impacts responsibly, and identify and respond to ESG risks.

Reducing our operational emissions

We've been working to reduce our operational emissions since 2018. These are the emissions we generate by doing business. They exclude our financed emissions — which come from the customer activity we finance or investments we may make.

    Choosing renewable energy

Responding to the climate challenge

We’re working to understand how climate change will impact our business and customers, and developing strategies to respond.

Our Climate Statement reports in detail on the work we’re doing to understand and prepare for the potential impacts of climate change, on us and on our customers.
