This is People

Our People team focuses on building Kiwibank’s culture and making Kiwibank one of the best places to work in Aotearoa, New Zealand. We work alongside our leaders and people, providing strategic advice, tools, processes and systems to support our journey to becoming customers’ first choice and to help our people develop and grow.

Our People team is made up of Human Resources (HR), Recruitment, Remuneration, Safety & Wellbeing, Learning, People Technology, Analytics, Culture & Capability, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Payroll and People Services.

This is Risk

We have specialist teams across Market, Credit and Operational Risk (think reputation, disaster, & financial loss), as well as Compliance and Safety, Security and Continuity. These teams consist of subject matter experts who help the rest of Kiwibank’s teams make sound business decisions taking risks into account, while ensuring they remaining compliant to the range of requirements that apply to banks. Risk is responsible for developing the frameworks that ensure there's consistent and integrated approach to managing Kiwibank’s risks, advising the business, monitoring risks and reporting to executives.

This is Legal

When you join our passionate in-house legal team, you’ll be providing legal support on matters related to our operations, products and offers. The team ensures we manage our legal risks, deliver on our purpose, and be customers' first choice. This includes meeting our regulatory obligations and managing our engagements with regulators.

This is Business Advisory

Business Advisory plays a critical role in keeping the bank running and helping to ensure we deliver on our commitments to customers, shareholders and regulators. Business Advisory covers a wide range of functions: Strategy, Treasury, Economics, Internal Audit, Finance, Procurement, and Property.

  • Strategy enables us to deliver on our purpose, by ensuring we have a clear and focused strategy.
  • Treasury manages the financial risks of our balance sheet, including interest rate and liquidity risk. Treasury supplement the bank's deposit funding with wholesale funding sourced from domestic and offshore markets.
  • The Economics team provides unique and topical insights into the New Zealand economy.
  • Internal Audit provides independent and objective assurance and consulting support to our operations.
  • Finance is a team of accountants, business partners and finance specialists who prepare and provide financial information, insights and advice to support us in delivering sustainable growth and returns for our shareholders, and to meet all statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Procurement specialists help us actively seek improved business outcomes with our suppliers and partners.
  • Property keeps all our office sites and branches running smoothly from managing leases to ensuring our sites run smoothly.
