Tāwhia Rōpū — Māori Bankers’ Group

Tāwhia is a collective of Māori banking and financial services professionals from across Aotearoa New Zealand. The name Tāwhia, meaning ‘to retain and hold firm’, represents the group’s commitment to upholding Māori values within the financial sector. It also acknowledges Kīngi Tāwhiao, who established the first Māori bank in 1886.

Kiwibank has had active representation in Tāwhia Māori Bankers' Rōpū since its inception in 2021.
