If you’re a registered Community Housing Provider (CHP), the Community Housing Provider Loan Guarantee Scheme can help you access more affordable finance to deliver more homes.
Why this matters
Community Housing Providers (CHPs) are a key part of Aotearoa’s housing system, delivering, managing, and developing social and affordable homes.
They currently own or manage around 16% of New Zealand’s social housing (about 13,000 homes) - highlighting the scale of impact and opportunity to deliver more homes.
What you can access
Eligible CHPs can access:
- More competitive interest rates
- Flexible lending structures
- Loans of up to $80 million per provider
The Scheme supports up to $900 million in lending nationwide.
How the Scheme works
The Government guarantees part of the loan. This reduces risk for lenders and enables sharper pricing for eligible CHPs.
You can use the funding to support new builds, portfolio growth, or long-term housing projects.
