Join at your local Kiwibank

Call us on 0800 523 523 to arrange an appointment, or drop in to your local Kiwibank. If we can’t see you straight away, we’ll make an appointment for a time that suits you.

Find your local Kiwibank

You’ll need to bring either:

  • your passport; or
  • your driver licence and a credit or ATM/EFTPOS card from another bank, with your name and signature on it.

Plus, a bank statement or utility bill (no more than 6 months old) printed with your name and address.

To make switching even easier, you should also bring:

  • Your IRD number
  • Your current bank account number, if you’re planning to switch your automatic payments and direct debits over to us.
  • NZ drivers licence
  • Proof of address
  • IRD number

  1. Get in touch

    Fill in your details above or call 0800 523 523.

  2. ID check

    We’ll be in touch in the next 24 hours to verify your identity and set up your accounts.

  3. Day 2


    Once your accounts are opened, you’ll be able to use them straight away. If you’re switching your automatic payments, you’ll need to give us your old bank account number. We’ll get in touch with your old bank and start moving your payments to us.

  4. Days 6-8

    We’ll call you…

    We’ll follow up with a call or email to make sure everything’s on track.

  5. Day 10

    All systems go!

    If you’re switching your regular payments, these should now be working from your Kiwibank accounts.
