How it works
When we need to confirm it’s you, we’ll send a notification to your device.
Open the app and approve the request.
You’ll only receive a notification when you’re completing an action, such as logging in to internet banking or authorising a payment.
Before you start
To use app notifications, you'll need:
- The Kiwibank mobile app set up on your device.
- Notifications turned on for the app and your device.
Set up app notifications
App notifications are enabled when you set up the app. To make sure they work, check your notification settings:
- Log in to the mobile app.
- Tap 'More' at the bottom of your screen.
- Tap 'Settings'.
- Tap 'Notifications'.
- Check that push notifications are enabled for your device.
- Toggle on 'Important alerts' to receive app notifications from Kiwibank.
Once set up, you'll receive notifications when you need to approve an action.
Stay safe with app notifications
Only approve requests you made. If you receive a notification you weren’t expecting, decline it.
If you think someone may be trying to access your account, change your password and contact us.
Common questions
Check the following:
- Notifications turned on for the app and your device
- You have an internet connection.
- You're using the latest version of the app (version 5.8.0 or later).
If you still don't receive a notification, try another way to verify your login.
The app notification is sent to the mobile app registered to the access number being used to log in. This applies whether you're accessing personal, joint or business accounts.
You'll only see verification methods that are available to you. For example, you'll need to have the Kiwibank mobile app set up on your device to use app notifications.
