Block gambling transactions

To help stop the temptation of spending your hard earned money on gambling sites, set up a block to stop any gambling transactions being made using cards linked to your accounts.

Request a gambling transaction block

Request a block on Visa Debit Cards or credit cards linked to your access number by:

How it works

The block will be applied to all Visa Debit Cards or credit cards linked to your access number. It blocks the merchant codes that are associated with gambling companies.

If you're the primary or secondary cardholder on a joint Visa Debit Card or credit card account, you can request the block to be placed on cards linked to your own access number, but not on the other cardholder's.
Both the primary and secondary cardholders can request a block on an additional cardholder’s access number. For example, if your children or dependants have an additional card linked to your account, you can request a gambling transaction block on their access number.

The block can be removed whenever you like. However, it can take two working days for the block to be applied or removed.

Once the block is applied, if you try to use your cards online with a merchant that uses one of the popular gambling merchant codes, the transaction will be declined. This doesn't stop you from using your card at physical gambling locations, such as casinos or buying a lotto ticket at a supermarket.
