The Kiwibank Visa Debit Card works just like an ATM/EFTPOS card, but with even more benefits. You can get cash from ATMs and use it for EFTPOS nationwide, make purchases online, overseas, over the phone, via mail order and pay bills – all using your own money.

When you’re overseas, you can get cash from more than a million ATMs in different countries, and use your card for EFTPOS purchases wherever Visa is accepted.

Eligibility

You must be 15 years or older and have a Kiwibank everyday account to get a Visa Debit Card.

How to use it

  • EFTPOS in New Zealand

    1. Select the 'CHQ' or 'SAV' option (depending on the accounts you've got linked to your card)
    2. Enter your PIN

  • EFTPOS overseas*

    Wherever Visa is accepted:

    1. Select the 'CREDIT' option
    2. Sign the receipt or enter your PIN (if the PIN option's available)

  • ATMs in New Zealand

    1. Enter your PIN
    2. Select the service you want
    3. Select the 'CHQ' or 'SAV' option (depending on the accounts you've got linked to your card)

  • ATMs overseas*

    If they display the Visa logo:

    1. Enter your PIN
    2. Select the 'CREDIT' option
    3. Choose the amount of cash you'd like to withdraw or check your balance (you can't do transfers at international ATMs)

  • Online, phone and mail order purchases*

    1. Select Visa as the card type (if requested)
    2. Enter or provide your Kiwibank Visa Debit Card number
    3. Enter or provide the card's expiry date
    4. Enter or provide the three digit 'CVV2' security number on the back of your card (if requested)

*When you have two accounts linked to your Visa Debit Card, transactions made overseas, online, by phone and by mail order will come out of your primary or default account.
