Public notices from 2026 for NZHL-arranged home loans
We’re making some updates to our NZHL General Terms and Conditions.
Summary of changes:
Open banking
We’ve added new terms in relation to open banking, which allows you to make payments and share account information with third‑party providers using digital banking.
These updates explain:
- What open banking is and how it works
- When open banking is available
- Who can set up, view and manage open banking authorisations
- How ongoing open banking payments and information sharing are affected by events such as a change to someone’s authority to operate an account
- Your responsibilities when using open banking and choosing third‑party providers.
Digital banking security and verification
We’ve updated and expanded our digital banking terms to reflect how you log in and verify actions.
These updates explain when and how we may use app notifications to verify internet banking logins. We’ve also clarified your responsibilities for keeping your devices, login details and verification methods secure when using digital banking, including:
- Keeping your registered New Zealand mobile number up to date
- Using secure devices and up‑to‑date software
- Taking reasonable care to protect your login details and devices
- What to do if you receive unexpected one-time codes or app notifications
- Acting quickly if you suspect unauthorised access or suspicious activity.
Subscription management
We’ve added information about managing certain recurring card payments through a subscription management service, if we make it available in the future. This explains what we can help with and what you're responsible for managing with merchants.

From 14 May, you'll no longer be able to:
- Send an AUD IDC to Australia
- Send a GBP IDC to the United Kingdom
IDC is only currently available for these two countries.
