Choose from two types of cover:

  • Extra cover

    Full cover for your vehicle and your liability for damage to another person’s vehicle

  • Everyday cover

    Third party, fire and theft. Covers your liability for damage to another person’s vehicle or property, and basic cover for your vehicle.

Extra cover special benefits

Your cover is provided by Tower Insurance Limited, and includes:

  • Market value

    Your vehicle (including trailers or caravans if specifically insured) will be insured for its market value.

  • No claims and no blame bonus

    If you haven’t had any claims with us or with your previous insurer for the last year, you'll get a no claims bonus. We won’t penalise your no claims bonus when you renew your policy or impose your excess in a claim, if you’re involved in an accident while insured and it’s proved that someone else was more than 50% at fault.

  • Choice of repairer

    If your vehicle suffers loss or damage for which a claim is accepted (other than windscreen, window glass or sunroof) you can nominate a repairer of your choice to do the repairs.

  • New vehicle

    If your vehicle becomes a total loss within a year of its original registration (from new) and your claim is accepted, we’ll replace it with a new vehicle of the same make and model, subject to local availability.

  • Hire vehicle

    If your vehicle is stolen or a total loss and we accept the claim, we’ll cover the cost of hiring a similar vehicle for up to seven days or $500, whichever is less. This cover doesn’t apply if you select the rental vehicle optional special benefit.

  • Repair guarantee

    You get a lifetime guarantee on any repairs to your vehicle carried out by our recommended panel beaters.

  • Windscreen and window glass

    If your vehicle’s windscreen, window glass or sunroof is accidentally broken, we’ll pay for their repair or replacement. We won’t deduct any excess and you won’t lose your no claims bonus.

  • Replacement vehicle

    If you replace your vehicle or purchase an additional vehicle, we’ll automatically cover your replacement or additional vehicle for 30 days from the date of replacement or purchase, subject to the terms and conditions of your policy.

Extra cover – optional special benefits

For an additional premium you can choose:

  • Choice of repairer

    If your vehicle suffers loss or damage for which a claim is accepted (other than windscreen, window glass or sunroof) you can choose a repairer to do the repairs.

  • Damage by an uninsured vehicle

    We’ll pay up to $3,000 for repairs to your vehicle if it’s damaged in an accident, it’s proven the other party was uninsured and more than 50% at fault, and you provide us with their identity and relevant details.

  • Replacement vehicle

    If you replace your vehicle, we'll automatically cover the replacement vehicle for 30 days.

Everyday cover – optional special benefits

For an additional premium you can choose:

  • RoadWise break-down service

    Get help anywhere in New Zealand if your car breaks down or runs out of petrol with this optional special benefit. You get three free call–outs a year and the cover is based on the car, not the driver – so whoever is driving can get help when they need it.

  • Windscreen and window glass

    If your vehicle’s windscreen, window glass or sunroof is accidentally broken, we’ll pay for the repair or replacement at our selected repairer under this optional special benefit. We won’t deduct any excess and you won’t lose your no claims bonus.

Choice of excesses

The excess is the amount that you pay for each claim. The standard excess for Vehicle Insurance is $300, but you can choose an amount that suits you. A higher excess will save you money by reducing your premium, while a lower excess will increase the premium.

Note that in some circumstances, e.g. drivers under 25 years, an additional excess will automatically be applied.

Discounts

  • No claims discounts – up to 50%
  • Up to 20% package discount for taking out more than one type of insurance policy (House, Contents or Vehicle) with us
  • 10% discount on your vehicle insurance for keeping your vehicle garaged.

Note: The discounts don’t apply to the levies (e.g. Fire Service) that are included in all premiums, nor to GST, administration fees, and some Optional Special Benefits. Discount varies depending on the number/type of policies taken out.
