Contents insurance valuation

To work out how much contents cover you need, do a valuation room by room. For furniture, furnishings and home appliances, use their present replacement cost irrespective of age for Extra Cover and under 5 years old for Everyday Cover. For all other contents, use their present day value.

The 'Average' column is a typical inventory for an average three bedroom New Zealand home – which is $84,355 in total. And don’t forget to add any extra household items we haven't mentioned, such as expensive ornaments, paintings and jewellery, in the fields marked 'other'.

Only enter in 'Your value' if your items are higher or lower value than the average value listed and it will automatically recalculate the total.
