Making changes to your home loan

If you have any questions or would like to make any changes to your loan, it's best to call us on 0800 000 654.

  • How do I find out how much I owe?

    If you're already registered for internet banking you can get your home loan added, so you can check your balance any time you like. Call us on 0800 000 654 and we'll add it to your internet banking, then look for your balance on the 'Accounts' screen.

    Your daily balance on internet banking is not a final settlement figure. For an exact figure, call 0800 000 654 and we can tell you over the phone, or send you a letter detailing the settlement amount (service fees apply).

  • Can I borrow more money on an existing Kiwibank Home Loan?

    As an existing customer you can apply for a top-up on your home loan. A $200 top-up fee applies. Top-ups can be processed very quickly. Call us on 0800 000 654 and we'll let you know what you need to do.

  • What if my life's changing and I need some help?

    There may be times when you need some help with your finances. We have a dedicated support team to help you, whether you need to take a break from your repayments or just get some financial advice.

  • Can I change the duration of my home loan?

    With our agreement, you may be able to change the term of your home loan. The amount of your home loan repayments will either increase or decrease, because you'll be paying your home loan off over a longer or shorter period. Call us on 0800 222 224.

  • Can I change my regular repayment amount?

    You may be able to change your repayment amount, subject to certain conditions. For more details, call us on 0800 000 654.

  • Can I switch to a different Kiwibank Home Loan?

    We want to make sure you're on the home loan most suitable for you. Call us on 0800 000 654 to discuss.

  • Can I make an extra lump sum payment?

    With a fixed rate loan, you may pay up to 5% of the outstanding balance of your fixed component at the date of payment, less any other payments over and above your minimum repayments that you have made in the current calendar year during a fixed term, either by a lump sum repayment or by increasing your regular repayment amount. As long as you stay within the 5% limit, you won�t be charged the lump sum repayment fee or fixed rate break cost.

    With a variable rate or revolving home loan, you won't be charged for making extra repayments.

  • Will I be charged if I pay off my home loan early?

    If you have a fixed home loan and choose to repay your home loan before the fixed rate period is up, there may be an early repayment charge called a lump sum repayment fee. A fixed rate break cost may also apply. To find out about any charges you might be subject to, call us 0800 000 654.
