• Why is Kiwibank doing this?

  Kiwi Thinking is what helped us get off the ground. We wanted to make banking easier by giving Kiwis simple solutions to their complex banking needs. We’ve come a long way since then, but that idea’s stayed central to everything we do.

  Now we want to help other Kiwis put their own ideas out there, and connect with others who can help them get their ideas off the ground.

• Who owns the intellectual property of my idea?

  The intellectual property associated with any idea submitted on this site remains the possession of the ‘Idea Owner’ who submitted it.

• What if someone steals my idea?

  If you’re submitting an idea that you don’t want anyone to use without your permission, it’s up to you to make sure it’s properly protected by trade marks, patents etc. Kiwibank Limited accepts no responsibility for any idea(s) submitted to this site and will not enter into any correspondence regarding the idea(s). Kiwibank makes no claim as to the originality or authenticity of any idea(s) and any legal dispute regarding intellectual property should be taken up with the Idea Owner.

• What kind of marketing support will there be for the ideas?

  Only those ideas judged appropriate by Kiwibank will receive marketing support. The type of marketing support will vary depending on the idea, but could include internet banners, newspaper ads, pamphlets etc.

• How many ideas will be selected for the website?

  There’s no limit to the number of ideas that will be featured on the website, just as many as are judged good examples of Kiwi Thinking by our panel.

• What kind of ideas are considered ‘Kiwi Thinking’?
  • Innovative – they’re new, fresh and different. Less of the same-old and more of the wow-have-you-seen-that!
  • Elegant – these ideas are often refreshingly simple. But don’t be fooled. That normally comes from them being intelligent and well thought out.
  • Lateral – Kiwi Thinking often comes at a problem from an unexpected angle, solving it in ways that more run-of-the-mill thinking simply can’t.
  • Do-able – The best Kiwi Thinking ideas are usually something that you and other New Zealanders can have a crack at and achieve.
