Open a Bill Blaster account

Kiwibank customers

Call us on 0800 11 33 55 and we'll set you up with Bill Blaster.

You need a Free Up, Now or Front Runner account to open a Bill Blaster. If you don’t already have one of these, we can set that up at the same time.

Not yet a Kiwibank customer?

Call us on 0800 11 33 55 to make an appointment at your local Kiwibank. You’ll need one form of current photo ID and a mail item no more than 90 days old to verify your address (this must be a bank statement or a utilities bill, such as a phone or power bill).

Your switching checklist

Things to bring to your local Kiwibank branch

  • One form of current photo ID (e.g. a passport or NZ driver's licence)
  • One document, no more than 90 days old, showing proof of address (e.g a phone or electricity bill)
  • Your IRD number (so interest can be taxed at the right rate)
  • Your opening deposit ($50 for Now account or Free Up, or $4,000 for Front Runner)
  • Optional:
To make things easier, if you also bring along a recent bank statement showing details of your automatic payments, bill payments and direct debits we can start setting these up on your account when you come in.

Things to remember for an effortless switch

  • Don't forget to give your employer your new Kiwibank account details so your salary can be credited to your new account! We'll provide you with a letter to give your employer.
  • Set up any further automatic payments and bill payments via the phone, branch or internet banking for free within the first 30 days of opening your new account.
  • Tell any companies (or anyone else) you have direct debits with that you have changed accounts. We'll provide you with a letter to give to these companies.
  • Cancel any automatic payments you have set up from your old bank account(s).
  • Send off your account closure form (which we provide) to your old bank once all outstanding cheques and payments have been cleared.
