Kiwibank to join Government guarantee scheme

Kiwibank is signing up to the Government deposit guarantee scheme immediately, Chief Executive Sam Knowles announced today.
"The Government guarantee gives an extra level of certainty to all Kiwibank customers. The scheme means that under all circumstances, customers can be certain that they will get access to their deposits plus interest," Mr Knowles said.
"Kiwibank is a strong bank and performing particularly well. However with the current international financial turmoil, some people may have been uneasy about the security of financial institutions. All customers can now be absolutely confident about the security of their funds," Mr Knowles said. The guarantee covers all deposits held by Kiwibank.
