Kiwibank issues scam warning
08/03/2011
Kiwibank has issued a warning that a hoax email is being circulated requesting customers provide their internet banking account access numbers and confidential passwords through a link to a replica Kiwibank Internet site. The email claims that bank has lost account details as a result of the Christchurch earthquake.
Kiwibank Communications Manager Bruce Thompson said customers should ignore the email. “We have not lost any customer data and would never request confidential bank details such as account passwords through an email. Kiwibank will also never send anyone an email containing a link to internet banking.”
He said it was sad that people would take advantage of the tragic situation in Christchurch for dishonest purposes.
